U-he Diva Patches They Sound Like the Real Deal to Me 1 by Calvin Cardioid
Don't mind me, dunno what I'm doing here. It's just my 2nd day playing with U-he's DIVA Beta 360, and my goodness does it ever sound good. It really does have moments that sound completely convincing as analog. I can only get 4 voices max at a time, running at 96k and 'great' accuracy. No major loud pops or crackles except: low CPU will obviously get some crackling, and changing presets once or twice involving the sallen filters kinda popped loud. Here's a couple of simple patches, try to listen for the different timbres and tones.

  1. Mmm... But where are the "presets" aforementioned? :/

  3. keyword being 'moments' when it sounds really analogue. plugin enthusiasts are excited - but in reality - it still is not that close to real analogue sound in terms of its character...it definitely has a digital edge. Good effort tho.

  4. Well, I suppose any softsynth will have that 'digital edge' because, they are digital. By that I mean, it sounds very close to analog but it'll always be too pure, lacking the defects an analog synth might have. But now that we have the closest thing in pure digital form, maybe it's time to find a way to f_ck it up as it should.

I had an idea once, IRs. Yes, Impulses Responses. They can do wonders on reverbs etc... Couldn't they be used to capture the imperfections of the signal chain on analog synths? I mean, bypassing the filter, just the final stage, with the ground noise and all. That might add a little character. Also, you could chose the character you want as easily as the osc/filters modules. EB.
